KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has said the industrialists and business community in Karachi cares about the progress of Karachi and they always speak on it at every forum which has impact on higher level.
It was only because of the traders and industrialists in Karachi that the city contributes about 70 percent in the national exchequer but this was a matter of concern that no generosity was shown in solving the problems facing by Karachi which needs attention and the negative propaganda about Karachi was also causing damage, he said.
He expressed these views while speaking in a reception held in his honor by the Federal B. Area Association of Trade and Industry, said a statement on Wednesday.
We must work for the strengthening of our city and the cleaning campaign was started from Wednesday and the city would be cleaned in 15 days, he said.
The Administrator said the government machinery works day and night in Karachi for the progress of the city.
He said that the industrial zones of Karachi provide 70 per cent revenue to the national exchequer and this could increase further if they were given more facilities.
However, we did not have the resources for this. Only 40 per cent garbage was lifted out of 15 thousand tons due to reason that the municipal administration did not have sufficient number of vehicles, he said.
Rauf Akhtar Farooqui said the citizens specially the industrialists and traders community should know the reality so that they could fight for Karachi on every forum.
He said the problems facing by the industry owners will be solved through providing resources. The construction of bridge on Shafiq Morr will be completed on time.
The President of Federal B. Area Association of Trade & Industry Shaikh Muhammed Tehsin said F.B Area was the fifth big industrial zone of Sindh, complaints office of various civic bodies were setup here.
He said the construction of service road and bridge on Shafiq Morr should be carried out speedily. A fire station should also be established in the area and cooperation be provided for disposal of industrial waste.
President of the Association Shaikh Muhammed Tehsin, Assistant Commissioner Gulberg Sameera Hasan and other notables were also present.
