MIAMI: Karina, swirling in the Pacific far off the coast of Mexico, has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm, forecasters said Friday.
The system, currently 715 miles (1,150 kilometers) west-southwest of Baja California, is expected to weaken further over the next two days, according to the National Hurricane Center.
With maximum sustained winds of near 70 miles per hour (110 kilometers per hour), Karina is predicted to move to the west or west-northwest over the coming days.
No coastal watches or warnings have been issue.
