LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket teams head coach, Moin Khan said on Tuesday that he does not want to make tall claims of blending the team undefeated but is confident that it (team) will develop a fighting spirit to take all the challenges in a decent manner in its cricketing assignments.
"It would be my utmost effort that our team presents a good fight in its every outing and it would be wrong to claim to make it an undefeated combination," he told mediamen at a news conference on the first day of a four-day short duration camp for the build up of the team for Asia Cup to be played in Bangladesh.
The former captain said his input was taken in the selection of the team and he was fully satisfied with the potential and talent of the selected players.
"I don't have any complaint on my appointment as head coach for a short duration, I would fully concentrate on improving the technical aspects of the players and team and my appointment is the reward of my hard work and is not through back door," he said adding "No one was behind my appointment , it was the system which led me to this point."
He said in the past he has served the team as manager and he fully knows the good and bad points of the players. "But now I am in a different role and I will fully endeavour to help the players to overcome their gray areas," said the team official.
Moin said wholesale changes can not be made in the team at one time and one or two players can be changed to make combination in the team and to boost its overall performance.
"It is good to see that players are taking the domestic tournaments seriously and producing good performance ,it will help in developing a competitive atmosphere as far as the selection of the national team is concerned," said the coach.
"At the moment our team has good combinations and we will try to get along with it and it is the ideal way to build a team," he maintained.
The former test cricketer said he would be having no problem while working with former test cricketers Zaheer Abbas and Shoaib Mohammad and their presence will be an added advantage for him to learn from their experience and to make efforts for the improvement of the team. "Zaheer is an asset for improving batting skills and Shoaib will be a good field coach."
He said he votes wicket keeper ,Umar Akmal as the best and he has helped him to better his form and performance behind the stumps. "Going to Asia Cup has mixed feelings for me as in the role of a captain my team won it in the past and now I am the head coach of the team which is going to defend the title.
