KARACHI: B-Town dazzling beauty and a former ‘Miss World’ Aishwarya Rai will reportedly be receiving a special invitation from the French Government to attend the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.
The 39-year-old has been walking the red carpet at Cannes for the past decade where she was bestowed with one of the highest civilian awards “Knight of the Orders of Arts and Letter” by the French government on her birthday last year. Not only this, Aradhaya Bachan’s mom has been endorsing a popular French cosmetics brand for many years now.
According to Indian media sources, Aishwarya Rai is highly regarded in France due to her long-standing association with the film festival. The Cannes Film Festival is likely to have a special focus on Indian cinema plus to celebrate 100 years of Hindi cinema.
Apart from Aishwarya, other legendary Indian stars such as Amitabh Bachan and South Indian cultural icon Rajnikanth are also reportedly to be invited by the Cannes organizers.
Aishwarya’s 70-year-old father-in-law Amitabh Bachan is also expected to make a debut at Cannes film festivals opening. He will be featuring in Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby” alongside Hollywood heart-throb Leonardo Di Caprio.
