The Karachi Port handled 169,614 tonnes of cargo comprising 121,412 tonnes of import cargo and 48,202 tonnes of export cargo including 9,573 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 121,412 tonnes comprised of 87,106 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,201 tonnes of bulk cargo and 28,105 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 48,202 tonnes comprised of 33,960 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,020 tonnes of bulk cargo; 11,800 tonnes of clinker and 1,422 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 9,573 containers comprising of 6,820 containers of import and 2,753 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,600 of 20's and 2,450 of 40's loaded while 186 of 20's and 67 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 836 of 20's and 396 of 40's loaded containers while 67 of 20's and 529 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Cosco Hong Kong, Maple Liv, MT Lahore, V Fulmar, JV Guardianship and Aramis carrying containers, tanker, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Xin Beijing, Ubena and MT Khairpur carrying containers and tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 205,364 tonnes comprising 186,817 tonnes of import cargo and 18,547 tonnes of export cargo including 3,703 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 186,817 tonnes includes 62,500 tonnes of LNG; 32,200 tonnes of coal; 7,399 tonnes of palm oil; 7,500 tonnes of soyabean; 22,954 tonnes of gas oil and 54,264 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 18,547 tonnes includes 2,454 tonnes of rice and 16,093 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,703 containers comprising of 2,856 containers import and 847 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were three ships namely Thor Infinity, Marangas Lindos and Al Sheenariya carrying coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday. A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, soyabean, LNG, gasoline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seven vessels viz. MSC Bosphorus, Jeppesen Maersk, Sakizaya Integrity, White Purl, Victoria, Atlantic Breeze and Al Taurus carrying containers, canola, LPG, mogas, gasoline and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were two ships viz. MSC Bosphorus and Genco Provence carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Friday. There was one ship namely Genco Provence carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
