Sharif family should face courts in corruption cases

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Friday proposed Shehbaz Sharif to come back to the country and face the courts against his alleged corruption cases.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was politicking of face-saving, point-scoring and hiding their bigwigs corruption, she said talking to a private news channel.

The special assistant said Sharif brothers had no sense of embarrassment over their involvement in massive corruption as they looted the national exchequer during their regimes.

She questioned that why Salman Shehbaz was not coming to the country to face the cases and clarify his position on the money, transferred in his account.

Dr Firdous said there was a history of Sharif family’s corruption and it always misled the nation in order to cover it up but now, the public was well-aware about its corrupt practices whenever it remained in power.

On the contrary, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan was committed to wipe out the menace of corruption and to utilize the funds for welfare and development of the people and country, she said.

She said the law of land was equally treating to every corrupt, adding former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was awarded 10-year imprisonment in Avenfield Apartments case but he had gone abroad after granting bail on medical grounds.
