  • Indian SC has banned any fresh petitions against Article 370 abrogation.
  • Several petitions have been filed challenging India' decision to revoke Article 370.
  • India revoked special status granted to IoK on August 5.

The Supreme Court of India has given Modi government four-week's time to file its response to petitions challenging the abrogation of Article 370 from its constitution.

A five-member bench, headed by Justice Ramana, has given the petitioners one week to file their responses after the government's reply. The apex court will take up the hearing on November 14. The SC  has also said that it will not accept any fresh petition challenging abrogation of Article 370, Indian media reported.

Several pleas have been filed in the Indian SC challenging the government's August 5 decision to strip IoK of its special status. Among the petitions, three have been filed by advocates ML Sharma, Shakir Shabir and Soyaib Qureshi.

The petitioners sought an end to the restrictions on the internet, landline and other communication channels in IoK.

Indian Occupied Kashmir has been under lockdown since August 5 when India stripped off the special status given to the region. India also imposed a curfew, banning internet services and other modes of communication in the area.
