  • Two people were martyred while three others were injured due to firing by Indian troops.
  • Pakistan has urged India to respect ceasefire arrangement 'in letter and spirit'.

Pakistan summoned on Monday Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia to lodge a protest over recent ceasefire violation by Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC).

In a statement issued by the FO, Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal condemned the ceasefire violation by Indian forces on September 28 and September 29. 60-year-old Salamat Bibi and 13-year-old Zeeshan Ayub were killed by India’s unprovoked firing in Nikial and Rakhchikri Sectors of LOC.

A woman in Nikial Sector and two civilians, including a woman in Rakhchikri Sector were also injured. "The Indian occupation forces along the LoC and Working boundary have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars, and automatic weapons, which still continues, the FO statement said.

The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws, the statement further said. It also said that India has continuously violated the ceasefire from 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations.

The FO spokesperson urged India to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement 'in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary'.
