India's revoking IoK special status may lead  to an end of its occupation: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Monday said the Modi government's act of revoking articles 370 and 35A of the constitution had  reignited the Kashmir freedom movement, which would ultimately lead to an end of its occupation.

Talking to newsmen after the launch of Tele Health Services here at the COMSAT headquarters, he said the Indian media was supporting the Modi government policies regarding the held state. The Indian Press Council even termed the government’s censorship on news about Jammu and Kashmir legal before a court, which was condemnable.

The Indian journalists' bias vis-e-vis Jammu and Kashmir had been fully exposed, he added.

Fawad lamented that the people of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) were living in miserable condition for the last 21 days amid continuous curfew, which had turned the valley into a jail. Most of the Kashmiri leaders were already in jail while the rest were being put behind bars since the change in the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said, had forcefully highlighted the Kashmir issue at international level, which might be resolved in near future.

The minister said Pakistan had given historic sacrifices for the Kashmir cause and fought three wars over the issue. Each village of the country had a martyr, he added.

India, he said, had been exposed before the world because of its atrocities and violations of human rights in occupied valley.

To a question, he said Maulana Fazlur Rehman as chairman of the Parliamentary Kashmir Committee had spent Rs 170 million in three years and did nothing.

His so-called long march was not for the freedom of Kashmir but was meant to get power in Islamabad, he added.

As regards the Tele Health/Tele Medicines Services, he said the COMSATS Internet Services had launched the project in Pind Saveka village of Jhelum district.

Under the newly launched Tele Health Services, the patients would be provided online general medical treatment prescribed by the best doctors sitting in Islamabad,  besides the facility of free Ultrasound, he added.

He said the clinic would also provide free medical facilities to the residents of Pind Saveka and surrounding areas.

He said steps were underway to initiate more science and technology projects. Highlighting the future plans, the minister said,“We will use drones for the agriculture sector. We are establishing a Bio-Technology Park in Jhelum.”

Chief Operating Officer of COMSATS Internet Services Jamal Nasir, while  presenting complete details of the project, said similar type of clinics were already functioning in some 12 other villages.

He said all the clinics equipped with the latest medical gadgets were linked with each other through Internet. Professional doctors were providing free medical facilities to the patients through online. The data of all the patients was being saved on the web portal of COMSATS Internet Services, he added.
