BELGRADE: Serbia's central bank bought an unspecified amount of euros on the local interbank market on Thursday to stem dinar gains against the common currency, dealers said.

The bank, which a day earlier bought 10 million euros ($11.22 million), intervened as the dinar traded at around 117.9 to euro. The domestic currency later weakened to the rate of 118 to euro, dealers said.

So far this year, the bank purchased 185 million euros to keep the dinar exchange rate in check.
