CM forms committee to reconstitute board of KPITB, amend act

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan Tuesday formed a committee to be headed by Special Assistant to CM on IT for the amendments into the act of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) and the reconstitution of board.

The committee has been tasked to submit its recommendations within two months.

Chief Minister directed for the strengthening of IT Board and creating its linkages with other departments. He indicated to task the IT board for the safe city project Peshawar and issuance of Arms licenses.

He was presiding over the 9th meeting of KPIT board at his office in CM Secretariat Peshawar. Advisor & provincial government spokesperson Ajmal Khan Wazir, Special Assistant to CM on Information Technology Kamran Bangash, Chief Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, Additional Chief Secretary Shehezad Bangash, Secretary Finance Shakeel Qadir, MD KPIT Board, IT board and other relevant officers attended the meeting.

The meeting was briefed about the digital policy 2018-23, introduction of police online reporting system in seven districts including efficient Internet facility, provision of healthcare medicines in the merged districts as well.

The participants of the meeting were also briefed about the first ever cyber record centre, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Employment Program, Capacity Building, Chinese internship Program and other foreign funded projects.

The Chief Minister directed the IT board to have a brain storming session to identify different problems and weaknesses in its system and find out a solution.

The meeting was told about eight thousand beneficiaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Employment Program and the Chief Minister directed to expand this program to the newly merged seven districts.

He asked the IT board to provide the details, expenditure and future requirements of the IT board.

Directing for the rationalization and reconstitution of the IT board, Mahmood Khan directed for more focus work on digital city project. Such projects could be launched in Swabi, Haripur and Hattar industrial zone on the government land, he added.

We have to take the initiatives of the digital policy and involve the private sector adding that KP IT Board should show dynamism in order to be capable to take its own decisions.

The KPIT board would be made an independent body adding that his government had eliminated political intervention in public sector institutions.

The Chief Minister also directed to enhance the level of coordination of the KPIT board with other departments and its working should be extended to the newly merged districts of the province. The IT board should accelerate work on foreign funded projects.

He would soon convene a meeting therefore the IT board and the department should plan a roadmap for the future targets.
