The Supreme Court (SC) was informed on Thursday by the committee probing Amal Umer's death case that the National Medical Centre (NMC) had tempered with the date and time of the girl's death.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar resumed the suo motu case today, where the committee, formed on his orders, presented its report. Sharing the committee's investigation, Advocate Faisal Siddiqui told the bench that both the police and the ambulance service accepted their mistake and irresponsible behavior, local media reported.

He added that the police had admitted its irresponsibility in providing weapon to the police officer who had no adequate training. The SC was also informed that NMC had tempered with the date and time of the Umer's death to prove that the little girl had died even before entering their hospital. The Sindh Healthcare Commission also submitted presented a report which was in favor of the private hospital.

CJ takes notice on death of girl Amal by firing, issues notices

Last year in August, Umer was killed when a stray bullet hit her during a police encounter. The police were shooting at a robber, who was robbing a car next to Umer's family. During the shootout, a bullet hit the little girl who was then rushed to NMC.

There the hospital refused to give Umer neither emergency medical aid, nor ambulance and told her family to take her to another hospital. However, Umer died on the way to the other hospital. Later, the CJP took a suo motu notice and summoned Advocate General, Secretary Health, Inspector General of Police and Administrator NMC.
