Questioning lawmakers' love for Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed his reservations over why some of the lawmakers are always keen to go abroad when there is so much work to be done here in Pakistan.

Hours before the premier chairs a federal cabinet meeting today, in which he will review the government's decision to remove names of lawmakers from the Exit Control List (ECL), the premier took to his Twitter handle and asked why the lawmakers wanted to go abroad when they have so much work to do here. He further wrote why the lawmakers were scared of their names being placed on the ECL.

The premier added that these lawmakers, who always claimed that Pakistan is their land and they love it, cannot wait to go abroad frequently. PM Khan also claimed that lawmakers have 'iqamas' or 'residencies' abroad.

In another tweet, PM Khan asked that if someone could explain this phenomenon of such lawmakers to those who stay in Pakistan because they love their country.

Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting today will discuss the names of prominent personalities who have been placed on the ECL by the government. The government has placed the names of 172 on the no-fly list for their alleged involvement in the fake accounts case.

The meeting will also discuss the Supreme Court orders to remove Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah from the ECL.
