New law to make obtaining succession certificate easy
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Dr. Muhammad Farogh Naseem Monday informed the Committee on Law and Justice that new legislation will make it easy for the common citizens to obtain succession certificate. The meeting was presided over by the Senator Javeed Abbasi.
The minister apprised the committee that Parliamentarians were also facing difficulties in obtaining the succession certificate, which showed what difficulties the common man would be facing.
The minister said that all the bars of the country had been asked for the suggestions for making new law regarding succession certificate.
He said NADRA had also been taken on board on the issue. The representative of the Islamabad Bar said that the succession certificate could be obtained in two months. However, he said people living aboard were facing difficulties in obtaining the certificate.
Director General NADRA informed the committee that a pilot project would be launched for Islamabad and then the law would be extended to other parts of the country after success of the initial project.
The committee also summoned the Secretary Interior and Director General FIA for comprehensive briefing on inclusion of names in the Exit Control List (ECL).
