NA speaker issues production orders of Saad Rafique

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser issued on Thursday a production order of former Railways Minister and leader of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz Saad Rafique.

The production order was issued under the National Assembly's rule number 108 by the NA speaker. The production order was issued following the Oppositions' demand for Saad's production order. The Opposition had also staged a walkout last week after the speaker did not comply to their demands.

On December 11, Saad and his brother Salman Rafique were taken into National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) custody for their involvement in the Paragon Housing Society scam. The NAB was granted a 10-day physical remand on December 12 of the Rafique brothers.

NAB has accused the brothers who, along with chief executive of Paragon City Nadeem Zia and others, launched an illegal housing scheme Paragon City (Pvt) Ltd in 2005 on the basis of forged and fabricated documents. NAB has also asserted that both Saad and Salman had received money from the housing society. NAB revealed that both brothers had admitted that they took millions of rupees as commission.
