Digging deep down in code added to Facebook Messenger, a developer recently found that the service might soon integrate a new feature that will let multiple people watch videos together.

According to a new code added to Facebook Messenger, developer Ananay Arora discovered that the firm might be planning to integrate a feature to it that will let everyone in a chat to watch a video together, control it, see who is watching, and chat about the videos at the same time, reported Tech Crunch.

Facebook launches ‘Watch Party’ to make watching videos more fun

Watch Party was previously introduced by Facebook via which people in a Facebook Group can watch videos in sync, comment and react together. The new code spotted called ‘Watch Videos Together’ would work in the similar way too.

The feature works when a user drops in a video in Messenger. They will be able to ping the person or group of people in their Messenger thread so that they can all watch it at the same time. It is most likely that the feature will support videos that are hosted only on Facebook.

In a statement released to Tech Crunch, a Facebook representative said that this is an ‘internal test’, which does not mean that this feature will for sure be released or not. However, because the feature already exists in Facebook Groups, it might be possible that Messenger will get one of its own too.
