At its last event, Apple released a new update of its operating software, iOS 12.1. However, reports have been pouring in about a bug that causes anyone to access contacts when screen is locked via Siri.

Within days of Apple’s iOS 12.1 update, devices have been facing new lock screen flaw that provides access to all contact information, involves activating a FaceTime call and accessing new group FaceTime feature to view contact information without even requiring a passcode, reported The Verge.

A person can access someone’s contacts by asking Siri to make a phone call and then switching to FaceTime. Then by adding more participants to the call, the iOS bug will present the contact list and by 3D Touch, the third person can obtain more information of the contacts, Phone Arena.

The bug was discovered hours after Apple released the new update. This bug is followed by another lock screen bug found in previous iOS 12.0.1 update that allowed attackers to steal recent photos from a device.

Moreover, in order to avoid the bug, users can disable Siri activation from lock screen, which would prevent the bug from working. Users can do this by going into ‘Settings’, then ‘Siri & Search’, and then choosing ‘Access When Locked’.

The flaw was initially discovered by YouTuber Jose Rodriguez who demonstrated the bug in a video.
