LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday disposed of a petition filed by former provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah against withdrawing security, on assurance that necessary security would be provided to him.

A provincial law officer on behalf of the Punjab government assured the court that the security would not be withdrawn from Rana Sanaullah and necessary security would be provided in accordance with law.

At this, Justice Shahid Jamil Khan disposed of the matter in the light of the statement made by the law officer.

Rana Sanaullah had submitted that he remained a provincial minister from 2008 to 2018. He submitted that he received various threats from persons belonging to various schools of thought during and after the elections.

He submitted that he moved various applications to chief secretary and inspector general of police Punjab but to no avail.

He pleaded with the court to issue directions for provision of additional security and also requested to restrain authorities from withdrawing the present security till the decision of the case.
