Four Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches will be played in Karachi in February next year, announced Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi on Wednesday.

Addressing a press briefing, Sethi said Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali has assured him that the provincial government would provide adequate security to the players. According to Sethi, ICC chief Dave Richardson will be visiting Pakistan in four days.

Meanwhile, the National Stadium in Karachi will be restored with the help of the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK). “We have allocated Rs1.5 billion for the renovation of National Stadium,” Sethi said.

Wait is over PSL retentions are here!

Over the issue of the non selection of batsman Fawad Alam in the international squad, despite impressive showing at the domestic circuit, Sethi said he is not the right person to answer why Fawad was not selected. “I don’t interfere in the cricketing affairs. If Inzamam ul Haq [chief selector] and his team do not select Fawad, I am not going to question why they didn’t select him [Fawad],” Sethi said. He added, “If one wants to know why Fawad is not selected, question the chief selector Inzamam”.

Earlier, the PCB agreed to be a part of the World Test and One-day leagues, announced by the ICC. However, Pakistan will play in the leagues only if the BCCI honours the MoU signed between the two boards in 2014 to play bilateral series.

"PCB will only sign on the document for participating in the World Test and ODI leagues if India fulfills its obligations to play bilateral cricket with Pakistan outlined in the MoU signed between the two boards," Sethi said earlier.
