imageBERLIN: Freiburg will return to the Bundesliga next season, following a year's absence, having had their promotion from the second division confirmed, while RB Leipzig must wait another week.

Freiburg's 2-1 win at Paderborn means they return to Germany's top flight at the first attempt as they now have a ten-point lead ahead of third-placed Nuremberg with two games left.

Leipzig, who are currently second, must wait for another week to have their promotion confirmed after their 1-1 draw at home to Bielefeld.

RasenBallsport Leipzig, who were taken over by energy drinks giants Red Bull in 2009 when in Germany's fifth tier, will be in the Bundesliga for the first time next season if they beat Karlsruhe at home next Sunday.

The team which finishes third in the second division, currently Nuremberg, will take on the club which finishes third from bottom in the Bundesliga, currently Werder Bremen, in a two-legged play-off at the end of the season for a place in Germany's top flight.
