According to Mail Online report, ‘Barcelona striker Lionel Messi will undergo several tests on Monday and Tuesday to assess the evolution of the kidney problems he suffered last December,' Barcelona confirmed in a statement on their website. 'Messi will return to his normal duties with the first team on Wednesday.'

The four – time Ballon d'Or “will be submitted to various tests on Monday and Tuesday to assess the development of kidney problems he suffered last December”, the Spanish champions said in a statement, media reported.

Messi missed Barca's FIFA Club World Cup semi-final in December as he was suffering from renal colic, a type of abdominal pain often caused by kidney stones. After the win over Levante, Barcelona returns to action on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Valencia.

Messi played 90 minutes for Barcelona in the 2-0 win over Levante on Sunday.
