imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that distribution of bardana (gunny bags) and procurement of wheat must be made transparent.

"I would not tolerate corruption, favoritism and negligence in this regard", this he said when Minister for Food Gianchand Israni presented him a report about distribution of bardana and procurement of wheat in the province.

He told the Chief Minister that three food inspectors in Umerkot district have been suspended for corruption in distribution of bardana.

The Chief Minister directed him to order an inquiry against the suspended food inspectors.

The Minister informed that distribution of bardana have almost been completed in the province. "Now farmers have started bringing wheat to the centres. Wheat centres at Johi, Moro, Naushehroferoze, Mirpurkhas and some other districts have started procurement," he said and added that the target of procuring 900,000 ton wheat would be achieved without any difficulty.

The Chief Minister directed him to keep visiting the centres personally and redress the grievances of the farmers.

He also directed the Minister to keep an eye whether the farmers are given cash payment in-time or not. "I have already given instructions to Sindh Bank to ensure timely payment," he said.
