ECP for maximum women participation in upcoming polls

ecp QUETTA: Additional Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Mohammad Afzal Khan has urged the women folk to ensure their participation in the upcoming general elections 2013.

 

He was addressing a consultative session on "Enhancing women participation in general election" jointly organized by the ECP and UNW here at Civil Secretariat on Friday.

 

"We would neither compromise nor ignoring the women folk that counts over 50 percent of the country for their role in the upcoming elections," Mr Khan said adding ECP has suggested various amendment in the constitutional aimed at enhance the women participation in the polls.

 

He noted that consultation with the federal and provincial government was being done for the provision of foolproof security and privacy of the women so that maximum turn out should be achieved in elections.

 

District elections Commissioners and large number of women representing the NGOS and civil society from across the province participated in the event.
