Shammi remembered on his 81st birthday

KARACHI: Shammi Kapoor’s lover is celebrating the 81st birth anniversary of great actor Shamsher Raj Prithviraj Kapoor today, media reported on Sunday.

Shammi Kapoor, actor and director, was born on 21 October 1931. Kapoor was a prominent lead actor in Indian Cinema from the late 1950s until the early 1970s.

He played supporting roles from 1974 to 2011 for Bollywood.

Shammi Kapoor was the most entertaining lead actors ever produced in Indian film industry. His astonishing films were Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Dil Deke Dekho, Junglee, Dil Tera Diwana, Professor, China Town, Rajkumar, Kashmir Ki Kali, Janwar, Teesri Manzil, An Evening in Paris, Bramhachari, Andaz and Vidhaata.

He received the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1968 for Brahmachari and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in Vidhaata in 1982.

Actor Ritesh Deshmukh remarked him as "The most stylish actor ever".

Shammi Kappor married with Geeta Bali. They had a son, Aditya Raj Kapoor and a daughter Kanchan.
