Pakistan-flag 400ISLAMABAD: The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ISESCO has decided to award "ISESCO Prize in Science and Technology 2012" to Pakistani academician, Prof. Dr Tasawar Hayat.

 

This award is being awarded in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of mathematics.

 

His name has also been included in the list of "ISESCO Science and Technology Laureates".

 

The ISESCO prize would be consisted of an award of US $ 5,000 and a certificate on which major contributions of the prize winner are mentioned.

 

The prize would be presented at a special ceremony during the 6th Session of the Islamic Conference of ministers of higher education and scientific research scheduled to be held on 20-21st November 2012 in Khartoum, Sudan.

 

To encourage innovative talent and to reward distinctive works for the solution of scientific and technological problems of socio-economic importance, the Islamic educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization -ISESCO- awards, every two years, prizes to Muslim scientists and technologists from its member states who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields.

 

ISESCO Prizes are awarded in Basic Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics) for outstanding research contributions in these fields, and in technology for important innovations.

 

Prof. Dr Tasawar Hayat who is HEC Distinguished National Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad termed this honour as an outcome of reforms and initiatives undertaken by HEC during last ten years in higher education sector of Pakistan which enabled the Pakistani academicians and scholars to win laurels for the country at international level, he added.

 

The senior management of Higher Education Commission Pakistan has congratulated Pakistani nation and Prof Dr. Tasawar Hayat on this great meritorious achievement.

 

The Head of ISESCO Center for Promotion of Scientific Research (ICPSR), Wafaa El Alami has also congratulated him over this important achievement.

 

The establishment of HEC has brought a number of revolutionary reforms in higher education sector of Pakistan which have been recognized throughout the globe.

 

Pakistani researchers have been facilitated in creating linkages with their counterparts in every leading university of academically advanced countries including US, UK, China, Germany, France, Australia, Korea, etc.

 

In addition, more than 5,000 Pakistani scholars have been facilitated to present their research work in leading conferences of the world.
