(Karachi) At least six policemen are suspected of being infected with coronavirus, media reported on Sunday.

As per details, the affected cops belong to city's East and West zones and include a driver of a senior police official. The police department has decided to conduct corona tests of the affected police officials.

Meanwhile, the police department, in its report, stated the cops are more vulnerable to contracting the disease as they perform duty out in the open and are in constant contact with the public.

It stated that the police personnel work in congested areas and special arrangements will have to be taken to curb spread of the COVID-19. It said if the disease spreads among cops, it will prove disastrous for the entire police department.

A COVID-19 team has also been constituted which comprises of 11 vehicles. The teams will reach out to the police personnel deputed on duties at different locations in the city and will check their temperatures. The teams will also provide face masks and hand sanitizers to the police personnel.

Earlier, two more people infected with coronavirus expired in Sindh, confirmed Provincial Government Spokesperson Murtaza Wahab.

Wahab said that 93 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Sindh. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the province has reached 1,411.

He stated that so far, 389 people have recovered from the disease while the tally of deaths is 30. He mentioned that 18 people have recovered from the deadly disease during the last 24 hours in Sindh.
