The country's auto industry has also sought bail out package from government to deal with current economic woes. On March 23, 2020 the three top Japanese auto companies shut down their plants due to coronavirus outbreak.
The auto industry has sought following incentives from the government no turnover tax this year half, half of utilities bill's from February to August 2020, on CKD, import duties will be 10 percent from February to December 2020, on AMAX, request for import duties will be 25 percent instead of 46 percent from February to December 2020, GST should be reduced by 50 percent from February to December 2020, reduction of 75 percent on withholding and income taxes on manufacturers authorized dealers and showrooms from February to December 2020, complete waive the demurrages and detention charges at all ports, i.e, land, air and sea,, complete, withdrawal of additional 3 percent additional sales tax, complete withdrawal increase in additional customs duty and 75 percent reduction in turnover tax rate on permanent basis.
