Funds worth Rs11bn released to battle coronavirus, says Buzdar
- Buzdar says one billion rupees have been allocated to the Balochistan government for fighting coronavirus outbreak.
- Local bodies election in Punjab have been postponed for nine months in wake of the virus outbreak and an ordinance in this regard is being introduced.
- CM says 10,000 doctors and medical staff will be hired to tackle the coronavirus situation.
(Karachi) Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said funds worth Rs11 billion have been released for the health department to battle the coronavirus disease.
Addressing a press briefing in Lahore on Tuesday, Buzdar said funds to deal with the pandemic has been released. "One billion rupees have been allocated to the Balochistan government for the purpose," the CM said.
"We have advised the health officials to purchase equipment and medication with the given funds to counter the disease."
He said that the provincial cabinet and government has decided to donate one-month salary to tackle coronavirus situation.
He added the local bodies election in Punjab have been postponed for nine months in wake of the virus outbreak and an ordinance in this regard is being introduced.
Usman said that the Punjab government has also decided to extended the school vacations till end of May in wake of the coronavirus situation.
He said that 10,000 doctors and medical staff will be hired to tackle the coronavirus situation.
