With its fifth victory in 28th match of HBL PSL V 2020 against Islamabad United by four wickets, the Karachi Kings sailed through the semi- final joining Multan Sultans.

Chasing an easy target of 136 runs, Karachi Kings grabbed second position in points table with 11 points and sealed its position in semi-final in HBL PSL V 2020.

Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam made a solid start of 60 runs against an easy target of 136 runs. Sharjeel hit three boundaries and four huge sixes before being LBW out by Akif in 5th over. He made 37 of 14 balls.

Kings' second wicket fell down without adding any run at 60 when Babar got inside edge and was bowled out by Musa while driving the ball towards cover. He scored 19 of 20 balls with three boundaries. Then Imad and Delport took the charge and dragged the scoreboard to 90 runs. Delport missed playing reverse sweeps and was bowled by Shadab at 11 runs in 14th overs.

Iftikhar seemed out of color in the match. He faced four balls to concede a single before being caught by Asif on Shadab in 15.4 overs. Imad Wasim played slow after the fall of fourth wicket as the target was not big enough for Karachi Kings. He made 26 of 34 balls with two boundaries and a six. He was caught by Salt off Zafar in 16.1 overs when Kings needed 31 of 24 balls.

The Kings sixth wicket fell at the score of 99 runs in 17.4 overs. Walton was caught by Talat on Rumman. He made 11 of 6 balls with a boundary. Jordan and Umaid made last 18 runs in eight balls as Umaid sealed the position in semi finals for Karachi Kings with a boundary to Rumman's second ball of 20th overs. Sharjeel was declared player of the match in second consecutive match.

Earlier, Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. Phil Salt and Rizwan Hussain, who got a chance to open the innings for Islamabad United after the withdrawal of Munru and Ronchi from the tournament, remained unimpressive in must-win match to make the hope alive for Islamabad United to qualify for semi finals.

Both openers conceded 35 runs in second match played behind the closed doors at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) when Umaid took Rizwan's wicket in 4.5 overs. He was caught behind the wicket by Walton at the score of 17 of 14 balls.

Salt, who hit a six over the long on fence to Imad's first ball of the first over, was fell victim on Imad's second over when he again used his feet but failed to send the ball beyond the boundary line. He was caught by Jordan at the score of 25 of 19 balls with three boundaries.

Islamabad's third wicket fell at the score of 80 runs, when captain Shadab, who was in brilliant form, was caught by Iftikhar at midwicket at 12 runs, failing to help his side to set a huge total for Karachi Kings.

Hussain Talat contributed 37 runs of 30 balls with four boundaries to escalate the Islamabad's total to 97 runs. Delport took his catch at extra cover on Iftikhar in 14 overs. Asif Ali and Ingram added 2 runs and 14 runs, respectively in the Islamabad's score. Zafar Gohar and Faheem Ashraf made 20 runs partnership to set a target of 136 of 6 wickets for Karachi Kings.
