CM orders crackdown on all sorts of 'mafias' in Punjab

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed to initiate crackdown against all sorts of mafias in the province and reiterated that looters will not be spared.

"Public service is my core agenda," he said, adding: "The PTI government has focused social sector development."

The CM chaired a meeting of MNAs and MPAs of Gujranwala Division, here on Wednesday in which progress made on development schemes in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Narowal and Sialkot were reviewed apart from discussing proposals for the inclusion of new development projects in the next annual development programme.

Addressing the participants, the chief minister reiterated that assembly members are his lieutenants and their problems will be solved on a priority basis. "The number of model police stations will be increased and development work will be done according to the priorities of assembly members in their constituencies," the CM said, adding: "Justice will be done in the distribution of development funds and Hafizabad university project will be included in next ADP."

He directed to improve the cleanliness situation in Gujrat and added that construction of Mandi Bahauddin-Kharian Road will be done on a priority basis. The government will provide facilities at the doorsteps of the people by upgrading schools and healthcare facilities, he added.

Moreover, the CM visited the primary & secondary healthcare department to inspect its control room established for the monitoring of coronavirus. He inspected hospitals' online monitoring system through surveillance and monitoring centre as well as coronavirus monitoring.

Talking on this occasion, the chief minister said that coronavirus diagnostic kits have also been procured by the Punjab government and the facility of coronavirus test is available in Lahore.

He said the government is strictly monitoring the situation and line departments have been directed to ensure cleanliness at fish markets and other food points.

The CM directed that online monitoring system of all the DHQ and THQ hospitals should be made functional as soon as possible and added that a decision has been made to install cameras at entry and exit points of the province for the eradication of polio.

Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Capt Muhammad Usman (retd) gave a briefing about precautionary measures adding that more than 75 thousand coronavirus patients have been identified in different countries of the world.

Provincial minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid and others were also present on the occasion.
