Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Nafisa Shah Saturday took strong exception to exclusion of 800,000 beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), saying it is nothing but snatching bread and butter from the have-nots.

Speaking at a presser here, she also came down hard on the government for reported move to rename the country's flagship social protection program - Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

"BISP is notified in the gazette as an act of Parliament signed into law by the president of Pakistan. It may be the wish of many to undo it and replace it with fancy names, but today BISP is the official name of the largest social protection program," she added.

She alleged that the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has already made military, judiciary and state institutions controversial, adding now it excluded over 800,000 BISP beneficiaries without conducting any survey.

"The color of government's Ehsaas Kafaalat card is quite similar to the flag of PTI, which shows why ruling PTI wants to rename the BISP," she added.

The PPP MNA said that no institution in the country is working independently as PTI has politicized all institutions like it did when it was in opposition before coming into power.

She claimed that the government recorded nearly 40 percent increase in public debt and liabilities in the last about 18 months which is quite alarming.
