A sizeable increase in prices of essential food commodities, including live chicken/meat, flour, sugar, fruits, vegetable, pulses and others was witnessed in retail market, according to a survey carried out Business Recorder here on Sunday.
The survey noticed price of live chicken/meat has touched new heights by crossing double century as available at Rs201 per kg which was selling at Rs186 per kg. A dozen of egg is being sold at Rs120-130.
Sugar price has increased at Rs80-85 per kg which was selling at Rs74 per kg in last week, while flour is being sold at Rs65 per kg against the price of Rs70 per kg, the survey witnessed.
A noticeable surge in price of gram flour (baisen) was witnessed in retail market as the commodity is being sold Rs190-200 per kg which was selling at Rs160 per kg in the previous week, it was revealed. It added prices of almost all brand and quality of cooking oil and ghee have unchanged in retail market.
Apple is being sold at Rs150-160 per kg, guava at Rs40-60 per kg, orange at Rs120-130 per dozen, pomegranate at Rs150-200 per kg, persimmon at Rs80-100 per kg, banana at Rs40-50 and Rs70-80 per dozen.
A slight decrease in prices of tomato was noticed as available Rs80 per kg against the price of Rs100-120 per kg, while onion was available within range of Rs60 per kg and Rs80 per kg and Rs90 per kg in retail market, the survey witnessed.
Similarly, the survey further said ginger is being sold at Rs400 and Rs450 per kg while garlic was available at Rs240 and 280 per kg in local market. Green chili is being sold at Rs160 and Rs200 per kg. Lemon is being sold at Rs100-110 per kg. Cucumber is being sold at Rs70 and Rs80 per kg, while carrots are being available at Rs60 per kg.
Red colour potato is being sold at Rs80-90 per kg while others available at Rs50-60 per kg against the price of Rs40 per kg. Peas are being sold at Rs250 per kg, capsicum available at Rs150-170 per kg, Arvi at Rs100-120 per kg.
Price of cauliflower was decreased as available at Rs40-50 per kg, which was selling at Rs60 per kg in the previous week, while cabbage was priced at Rs60 per kg. Bringle was available at Rs80 per kg which was priced at Rs50 per kg in the previous week. Bitter gourd (Karela) is being sold at Rs120 and Rs150 per kg. A bundle of radish is being sold at Rs20.
According to the survey, the prices of food grains have unchanged in retail market as Dal mash price has increased at Rs240 per kg against the price of Rs210 per kg in the previous week.
Likewise, it further witnessed dhoti dal is available at Rs240 per kg which was selling at Rs190 per kg in the last week. It added white lobiya is being sold at Rs200 per kg against the price of Rs160 per kg. Dal black (chilka) was available at Rs220 per kg against the price of Rs180 per kg, while dal green (chilka) priced at Rs200 per kg against the Rs170 per kg, showing an increase of Rs30 per kg.
Similarly, a substantial increase in price of Moonge was noticed in retail market as available Rs200 per kg, which was selling at Rs160 per kg. Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs150 per kg against the price of Rs140 per kg in the previous week, whereas toota rice brown colour is being sold at Rs80 per kg and white color at Rs70 per kg.
