A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday was not given a cutoff date of Nawaz Sharif's return from London despite expiry of four-week travel permission.

The counsel for Nawaz Sharif avoided to give clear date of his client's return and told the bench during hearing of the petition seeking removal of Nawaz's name from the Exit Control List (ECL) that he is currently undergoing medical treatment and was not yet fit enough to travel back to the country.

Nawaz's lawyer added that all Nawaz's medical reports are being periodically submitted to the relevant authorities with due diligence. The court adjourned the hearing and asked the law officer to furnish reply to the reports.

The court observed that according to an order issued by the LHC, Nawaz must return to the country after getting a fitness certificate from his doctors. On an objection by a law officer, the court said that the government can file a separate request if they do not believe reports regarding Nawaz's health. The court asked the government to go through his medical reports and inform the judges about its viewpoint. The law officer further contended that Nawaz Sharif should have moved a fresh plea if he intends to prolong his London stay.

Last week, the reports prepared by cardiac consultant Surgeon David Lawrence were submitted to the LHC. "Nawaz Sharif's condition was not stabilized yet.
