Treasury on Wednesday defended police violence against the contractual teachers during the Sindh Assembly session, warning that law enforcers will take action no matter 'teachers' if crossing into the city's Red Zone.

The opposition raised the issue in the house with a hue and cry about violence that inflicted on the NTC passed non-appointed teachers who were demanding for regularization of their jobs at the government schools. The opposition legislators asked for probe into ascertaining whether who ordered violence against the teachers, saying the police action brought the highly-esteemed educators to disrepute.

"Police will come into action if anyone no matter teachers violates the law to enter in the Red Zone," Sindh Culture Minister, Syed Sardar Shah defended the action, saying that the NTC passed teachers will soon be regularized. The discussion emerged in the wake of GDA's Nusrat Sehar Abbasi's call attention notice raising the issue.

She criticized Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah for holding several ministerial portfolios, saying that the province has no Education Minister. She said that if the chief minister cannot run the all ministries then should allocate them to others. She proposed the Education Department should be handed over to Syed Sardar Shah who was last such minister. She said that the protest is the right of every citizen as the NTC passed teachers are being overlooked for their regularization.

She said that teachers were put behind the bars and tortured by police, who shunned their respect. She asked whether who had given orders to beat up the teachers. In reply, Syed Sardar Shah said that the government has so far regularized 16800 teachers and informed the house that a permanent policy on teachers' regularization has been concluded. "We recognize the right of protest but within the circle of law," he added.

MMA's Syed Abdul Rasheed asked that Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) is being privatized. In reply, Sindh Information Minister, Saeed Ghani said that the PPP has always opposed to the privatization policy, saying that KWSB is not being privatized, calling such information as 'rumors'. Earlier, lawmakers offered fateha for Hussain - a six year old kid hailing from Larkana, died of dog bites at Jinnah Hospital.
