Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar Tuesday urged Sindh Governor Imran Ismail to take personal interest in ensuring the federal-funded fire tenders for Karachi at the earliest. "A year has passed after release of amount from federal government for purchase of fire tenders for Karachi, no final action has so far been taken," Wasim said while presiding over the meeting of the station officers of the fire brigade department.

He appealed to the Governor of Sindh to take personal interest in this and solve the issue, whatever hurdles are there, should be removed as the civic body is in dire need to enhance its operational efficiency, to cope the fire challenges in the metropolis.

He said KMC was making efforts to pay the fire risk allowance to the fire brigade staff along with their salary but the officers and other staff of the fire brigade must also perform their duty as a government official.
