Model Collectorate Customs, Port Qasim, has seized cartons of explosives and firework crackers imported under the garb of children toys.

According to MCC Port Qasim, M/s Abrar Traders, 3D Allama Iqbal Road, Railway Headquarter, Data Gunj Bux Town, Lahore, NTN No. 3080710-7 imported a consignment "plastic toys" under IGM No. 426- 08/11/2019, index No. 157 and container No, MRKU 3728800, and filed the Goods Declaration (GD) KPPI-HC-32916-13-11-2019 through authorized customs agent Rizwan Khan s/o Lal Khan, CNIC NO. 4240-17995629-1, NTN No. 2245223-7 proprietor of M/s AR Logistic (license No. KCUS-2714).

Hundred percent examination of the goods was carried out which revealed that fireworks and firework cracker guns in huge quantity (5,330 kg) have been found inside the container. Importer wilfully concealed cartons of fireworks (Phuljari and titanic missile) within the cartons of children fund fair items and firework cracker guns in children manual toys cartons. Fireworks consisting of Phuljhari and titanic missile and firecracker gun are restricted.

Therefore, the importer has wilfully and deliberately imported the restricted items into the country under the garb of children funfair items and plastic toys.

According to MCC Bin Qasim, the illegal and fraudulent actions of importer Muhammad Ashraf of M/s Abrar Traders (NTN 3080710-7) Lahore with the active connivance of their authorized Custom Agent Rizwan Khan constitute an offence within the meaning of sections 2(s), 16, 32(1), 32(2) of the Customs Act, 1969. The goods being liable for out-right have been seized under section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969. The seized goods in the container lying at QICT, Port Qasim has been handed over to the custodian terminal operator under Superdari for safe custody. The role of other associates is being investigated to establish their connivance.

The Model Customs Collectorate Port Muhammad Bin Qasim has mounted vigilance to thwart attempts of clearance of banned Indian goods. In this regard the MTO off dock terminal examination staff foiled a bid of clearance of Indian Origin printed/misprinted plastic film waste.

A goods declaration bearing No. KPPI-HC-29453-31-10-2019 was filed by M/s Sana Plastic Industries (Private) Ltd, through their clearing agent M/s Enterprises, declaring to contain "printed/ misprinted plastic film waste" of the United Kingdom origin shipped from London Gateway Port. On examination, paper stickers showing India as country of origin were found pasted on the plastic film rolls.

During examination of goods declarations containing miscellaneous items, including fast-moving consumer goods, a GD bearing No. KPPI-HC-30770-06-11-2019 was filed by M/s Muhammad Kashif & Co through their clearing agent M/s Pioneer Shippers, declaring to contain miscellaneous item i.e. old and used machinery, iron and steel re-meltable scrap etc, imported from Singapore. On examination, 1,296 bottles of liquefied hand wash Lifebuoy brand of Indian origin were found.
