Director of North Karachi Industrial Development & Management Company (NKIDMC), Syed Usman Ali has suggested that property tax received from the North Karachi Industrial Area should provide funds to the management company on a regular basis, so that the maintenance and repair work of the infrastructure can be done.
Speaking during a meeting with Secretary Industries Sindh, Dr Nasim ul Ghani Sahito, Ali inform that PC 1 of installation of surveillance system to protect new infrastructure, to develop a link road three industrial areas including FB Industrial Area, North Karachi and SITE Super Highway and to develop a link road from North Karachi to Northern Bypass to avoid heavy traffic in the city from Port have submitted.
Secretary Industries Sindh, Dr Nasim ul Ghani Sahito expressed satisfaction over the progress of infrastructure restoration projects in the North Karachi Industrial Area and appreciated the management of the North Karachi Industrial Development & Management Company (NKIDMC ) on timely completion of the projects.
He said that he would inform the Chief Minister of Sindh about the progress and suggestions on infrastructure restoration projects in the North Karachi Industrial Area through the Chief Secretary. He also assured to provide facilities to the NKIDMC in future.
Chief Executive Officer of NKIDMC, Sadiq Muhammad briefed to Secretary Industries that Sindh Government issued Rs573 million to NKIDMC for rehabilitation of Infrastructure of North Karachi Industrial Area. Till now we have completed three projects and the forth one has been 91% completed and the remaining 9% is getting delay due to hindrance by K-Electric.
We have spent Rs442 million till now on our projects. On the directives of the Sindh government, a two-year audit has also been completed from the authorized firm.
Project Director, Faraz Mirza brief to Secretary Industries about on-going projects and informed that we have established Vigilance department to secure the newly rehabilitated infrastructure and to stop irregularity. He also requested to notify our vigilance department through Commissioner Karachi or DC Central to empower against illegal and irregular activities on our Infrastructure. The Secretary Industry visited the industrial area, where he was informed about new development works and removal of encroachment.
