The Lahore High Court (LHC) will announce today its verdict on the bail plea filed by Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem will announce its verdict today. The LHC reserved its verdict on October 31 after hearing arguments from both sides and said it will announce it on November 1. However, it will announce the result today.

Following Nawaz Sharif's health deteriorated and he was granted bail on medical grounds, the PML-N leader had sought for immediate bail on the basis of fundamental rights and humanitarian reasons. The Islamabad High Court had suspended Nawaz's sentence on October 29 in the Al-Azizia case for eight weeks.

On August 8, Maryam and her cousin Yousaf Abbas were arrested by NAB in the CSM case. Later, on September 26, they were sent to jail on judicial remand by an accountability court in Lahore.
