The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that a heatwave will likely grip Karachi for three days starting from May 1.

According to the heatwave alert by PMD, during the heatwave the maximum day temperature will be ranging between 40-42 Celsius, while winds flow will be from North and Northwest. "The authorities and all stakeholders are requested to take precautionary measures and keep them abreast for update from Met Office," the notice added.

Last month, the Chief Meteorologist of the Pakistan Meteorological Department Abdul Rashid, had said that 2019 will be the hottest year since 2015. In 2015, the heatwave in Ramadan killed 65 people in three days.
