Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza has said that reforms in health sector are among the top priorities of the government. Addressing a function here on Monday, he said health of elderly people is of great significance in our health policy. Zafar Mirza said, "We need to reduce environmental as well as behavioral risks to improve health of our citizens."
He said Pakistan has become most vulnerable country in terms of hepatitis spread and there is a need to take some serious measures to control it. He said there are 37 allied departments and institutes under the Ministry of Health and all require fundamental reforms. He said the government is committed to bringing reforms in these institutes and claimed that within one year there will be major changes in this sector.
