A local court Monday sent Mian Tariq Mahmood, prime suspect in the case of controversial video of former Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik, on 14-day judicial remand. The officials of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) produced Tariq Mahmood before the Civil Judge Shaista Kundi on expiry of his physical remand. The agency requested the court to extend physical remand of the accused for another five days for completion of investigation.
The judge said that according to the FIA, two mobile phones and a USB have been recovered from the accused. "Has FIA recovered anything from the two houses of Mian Traiq?" the judge inquired. On this the investigation officer said that a Toyota Land Cruiser has been recovered from Tariq's house. The accused told the court that he has nothing to do with the vehicle recovered from his house.
The defence counsel told the court that two sons of the accused have been missing for the last many days. "There is only one allegation against the accused with regard to making a video between 2000 and 2003," he said.
The court after hearing arguments sent the accused on 14-day remand.
Talking to media persons outside the court, the accused said that neither did he make nor did he sell the video, claiming that Toyota Land Cruiser had not been recovered from his house.
