Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday visited the 1180 MW RLNG Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Plant in Bhikki area of Sheikhupura and inspected its various sections.
During the visit, the CM was told that this plant has generated electricity worth Rs 10 billion. Addressing the meeting, Usman Buzdar said that Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Plant is a national project and assured that its issues will be solved soon. A committee led by the Chief Secretary has been constituted to submit its recommendations by reviewing recruitments and other issues.
He said that board members of Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Plant will be nominated soon and its privatization will also be examined. Usman Buzdar directed that more saplings should be planted inside and outside of the plant and made it clear that he will examine every project personally.
Later, the CM also inaugurated the construction of the sports complex project in Sheikhupura costing around Rs 390 million. He laid the foundation stone of restoration of old nullah dek. Under this project, restoration work of old nullah dek will be done with an amount of Rs 385 million from dek diversion channel to QB Link Canal. This project will be completed by the mid of next year to help save the agricultural lands of Daska, Gujranwala, Muridke, and Ferozewala from flood water.
MNAs and MPAs also called on the CM during the visit. Sardar Usman said that the process of meetings and consultation has already been started and meetings with the parliamentarians are held during field visits to solve their problems on a priority basis. "We are the custodian of every government penny and no one will be allowed to remain dishonest with the national kitty," he said.
Provincial ministers Dr Akhtar Malik, Mian Khalid, Mohsin Leghari, Taimur Bhatti, Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed, Chief Secretary, and others were present on the occasion.
