Bakery items have also registered a surge ranging between Rs5 to Rs 10 with the increase in petroleum prices. Market sources said prices of brown, white and milky breads have witnessed an increase of Rs5 to Rs 10 with latest push in prices after unprecedented increase in petroleum prices.
The new price of brown bread has reached to Rs60 after registering an increase of Rs5 per packet. Similarly, the new price of fruit cake has touched Rs95 after an increase of Rs 10, followed by availability of Shwarma bread to Rs50 while new price of burger has jumped to Rs55.
President of Karyana Merchants Association Hafiz Muhammad Arif has criticized both the Punjab as well as the district government over the increase in the prices of bakery items. The consumers have also criticized the government for its failure in controlling prices, saying that inflation has hit hard them over the last few months.
