The Punjab government departments have finalized budget demands and the provincial cabinet is set to review these demands ahead of announcement of the budget for the fiscal year 2019-20.
According to the sources, the Punjab government has recommended Rs 3000 billion for the development budget. Rs 52 billion for education, Rs 35.5 billion for school education department, Rs 9.5 billion for the higher education department, Rs 2 billion for special education, over Rs 1 billion for literacy and non-formal education and Rs 2 billion for sports and youth affairs have been recommended by the concerned departments.
A budget of Rs 50 billion for health sector, Rs 35 billion for road sector, Rs 26 billion for irrigation sector and Rs 2.5 billion for environment department have been sought in the upcoming budget, sources added.
