Atleast three persons were killed in a collision between truck, passenger van and car in Kohat, and six sustained injuries on Thursday. The incident occurred on Indus Highway near Muslimabad. According to the police, the van and car rammed into each other due to over-speeding and the uncontrolled van collided with the truck which was coming from opposite direction. The wounded have been shifted to DHQ hospital, and two of them are in critical condition. Further details suggest that the victims belong to Kohat, Karak and Bannu.
In another incident in Kohat, one person was killed and two passer-by children were injured in a firing incident in Miankhel Bazaar. The locals said the slain person was identified as Ahmed Abdullah, while the injured children were identified as nine-year-old Habib and 10-year-old Tayyeb. The body and the injured were taken to District Headquarters Hospital Kohat.
Police said the firing incident was the outcome of personal enmity. A case has been registered about the incident and the culprit involved in the incident has been arrested. Further investigation into the case is underway. Meanwhile, in Charsadda, accused Sajjad opened fire on his aunt and cousin Saifullah in Station Killi area of Tangi tehsil on Wednesday, leaving them dead on the spot. Police said the incident was the outcome of a property dispute. The accused was seeking share in property and quarreled with his aunt and cousin over the issue after which he opened fire.
The culprit escaped from the scene after committing the dual murder. Police, on the report of the daughter of the deceased woman, filed a report and initiated investigation. Raids are being conducted to arrest the culprit, but he is still out of the reach of the law enforcers.
The local people shifted the bodies to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Tangi from where the bodies were handed over to heirs after post mortem. The local people have demanded arrest of the culprit behind the incident immediately.
Earlier in the day, an Assistant Sub Inspect (ASI) was martyred while two other policemen sustained injuries when unknown gunmen opened fire on a police van in Gandherai area of the tehsil Tangi. Policemen were on routine patrol when they came under attack from unknown miscreants.
Meanwhile, a dead body was recovered from Anar Cheena area of Hangu. The body was recovered from the mountainous area, however, the cause of the death was not known. The victim was identified as Afzal Shah. The body was taken to Civil Hospital for post mortem to ascertain the reason behind the death.
