Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that he is no more part of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and also made it clear that he will not take the oath as member of the Punjab provincial assembly.
Speaking at a news conference on Sunday, Nisar said that he has repeatedly made it clear that he is not part of the PML-N anymore. "I've been part of the PML-N for a long time. But I do politics of honour and not of power," he asserted.
He stated that he has a strong relationship with former premier and senior PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and his family but he is no more part of the PML-N.
Indicating that he will not take the oath of being elected member of the Punjab provincial assembly, Nisar asserted that it will be sheer hypocrisy on his part if he takes the oath.
Referring to the prevailing situation of the country, the former interior minister said that conspiracies are being hatched to weaken Pakistan on multiple fronts.
He also questioned as to why the names of those Pakistani heroes were not made public who shot down two Indian jets on February 27 in response of the Indian aggression against Pakistan. He said that people should know the names of those Pakistani pilots who shot down the Indian jets.
Nisar also questioned the government's policy towards India, saying that Pakistan should not be 'begging' for talks with India, adding that relations with the neighbouring country should be on the ground of mutual respect and dignity.
According to him, Prime Minister Imran Khan was misinformed about the discovery of oil in the sea which led to dissemination of disinformation on the part of the Prime Minister. "He [PM] should be made answerable for giving an incorrect account of oil discovery in the sea," he added.
Criticizing the government policies, he said that calling everyone dacoit and looter would not work, adding that the government needs to take the nation into confidence on its policies including the accountability process.
Referring to the high inflation in the country, he stated that the country is expected to witness further rise in inflation and price hike in commodities in the months to come, adding that the situation continues the same the people will have no option but to take to the streets.
He said that the devaluation of currency against the dollar and the rise in prices of petroleum products will adversely impact on the poor people. He said that the government needs to give maximum relief to the masses in the holy month of Ramazan.
