The Rawalpindi division chapter of Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) has expressed concerns over the recent appointments of non-party based lawyers on the positions of legal advisors and assistant advocate generals made by Government of Punjab in different departments. According to a statement issued here, a meeting of Insaf Lawyers Forum, a lawyer wing of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), held at District Bar Association Rawalpindi on Sunday.
Sajjad Akhtar Malik, President, ILF, District Bar, Rawalpindi, chaired the meeting and General Secretary Syed Sohail Shah Gardezi Advocate, Senior Vice President of Rawalpindi Division of ILF Zahid Anwar Advocate, Dilpazir Butt, Miss Raila Sabuhi, Riaz Hussain Kazmi, Malik Aamir Saleem, Syed Sekhawat Hussain Kazmi, Asghar Khan advocate, Raja Waqar Ilyas, Mumtaz Akhtar Kaiyani, Muhammad Masoos, Nargas Shaheen, Saima Shajie, Noor ul Hassan and others attended it.
The meeting discussed the post-situation of the recent appointments of non-ILF lawyers as legal advisors and on different posts and showed serious concern over it and demanded resolution of the concerns.
It was noted in the meeting that recently a legal advisor at Town Municipal Administration (TMA), Gujar Khan, had been appointed who was a worker of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and likewise in appointments of Assistant Advocate Generals in Punjab the lawyers belong to ILF were ignored and few lawyers from PPP and PML-N were also appointed.
"The concern is that how these lawyers can ensure party stance when they follow other parties' lines. The different MNAs and MPAs have accommodated them because of their personal affiliation with them. These people will again change their loyalty when the government will change, said a senior member of ILF.
The meeting decided that the ILF delegation will call on General Secretary and other senior party leadership including advisor to PM Naeem-ul-Haq to convey the concerns and if they failed to address reservations then a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan will be arranged to bring the matter into his knowledge.
