Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a mixed trend during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that the prices of some vegetables and fruits witnessed an increase while some witnessed a reduction. Chicken and egg prices witnessed an upward trend. The survey observed no change in the prices of non-perishable items including ghee/cooking oil, pulses, rice, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Egg price went up from Rs 100 to Rs 105 per dozen in the wholesale market which was being sold at Rs 115 against Rs 110 per dozen in the retail market; live chicken price went up from Rs 4,200 to Rs 4,800 per 40 kg which was being sold at Rs 150-160 against Rs 130-135 per kg in the retail market; and chicken meat was being sold at Rs 250 against Rs 200 per kg.
Onions' price remained stable at Rs 140 per 5 kg which were being sold at Rs 35 per kg in the retail market; tomatoes price went further up from Rs 230 to Rs 350 per 5 kg which were being sold at Rs 90-95 against Rs 60-65 per kg in the retail market while potatoes' prices remained stable at Rs 80 per 5 kg which were being sold at Rs 20 per kg in the retail market.
Local garlic prices witnessed no change and was available in the range of Rs 300-400 per 5 kg and was being sold at Rs 70-95 per kg in the retail market; Chinese garlic price went down from Rs 750 to Rs 500 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 140 against Rs 190 per kg in the retail market; and local ginger price went down from Rs 800 to Rs 700 per 5 kg, which was being sold at Rs 175 against Rs 200 per kg in the retail market.
Capsicum price remained stable at Rs 425 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 110 per kg in the retail market; yam (arvi) price remained stable at Rs 230 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg in the retail market; carrot price went further up from Rs 140 to Rs 150 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 against Rs 35 per kg in the retail market; radish price was stable at Rs 120 per 8 kg pack which was being sold at Rs 25 per kg in the retail market; and peas price was also stable at Rs 150 per 5 kg which were being sold at Rs 45 per kg in the retail market.
Cucumber price went down from Rs 250 to Rs 220 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 50-55 against Rs 60 per kg in the retail market; cauliflower price went down from Rs 180 to Rs 160 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 against Rs 45 per kg in the retail market; cabbage price went down from Rs 120 to Rs 80 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 20 against Rs 25 per kg in the retail market.
Okra price went down from Rs 600 to Rs 550 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 150 against Rs 160 per kg in the retail market; brinjal price went down from Rs 250 to Rs 150 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 against Rs 60-65 per kg in the retail market; and ridge gourd (tori) price remained stable at Rs 425 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 110 per kg in the retail market.
Pumpkin price witnessed no change which was available at Rs 350 per 5kg and was being sold at Rs 85 per kg; tinda price went down from Rs 230 to Rs 200 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 50 against Rs 55 per kg in the retail market; beans price went further up from Rs 250 to Rs 300 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 75 per kg against Rs 60 per kg in the retail market, bitter gourd (Kareela) price went down from Rs 550 to Rs 450 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 125 against Rs 140 per kg in the retail market.
Prices of all the major pulses also witnessed no change as fine quality white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 170 per kg; while normal quality at Rs 135 per kg; good quality grams at Rs 170 per kg and normal quality grams at Rs 130 per kg; kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg; green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg; and red lentil (Masoor) at Rs 130 per kg. Wheat flour price remained stable at Rs 785 per 20kg bag.
Ghee/cooking oil prices also witnessed no change as normal quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 150 per kg/litre pack, while best quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 1,030 per 5 kg/litres tin. Prices of sugar, formula milk Nido/Everyday and packed spices also remained stable.
Fruit prices witnessed a mixed trend as Pakistan Kala Kolo apple price went down from Rs 160 to Rs 140 per kg, Iranian Kala Kolo apple price went down from Rs 175 to Rs 165 per kg, white apple was available at Rs 80 against Rs 90 per kg, and Ambri apple was being sold at Rs 75 against Rs 90 per kg.
Good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 90 per dozen; normal quality banana in the range of Rs 50-60 per dozen and Indian banana was being sold at Rs 160 against Rs 180 per dozen. Guava prices remained stable as good quality guava was available at Rs 90 per kg and normal quality guava was being sold from Rs 50-55 per kg to Rs 60-70 per kg.
Best quality kinnow was being sold at Rs 180 per dozen, Khanpuri Shakri Malta at Rs 140 per dozen, normal kinnow in the range of Rs 70-100 per dozen, pomegranate at Rs 190 per kg against Rs 175 per kg and sapodilla (Chikoo) at Rs 125 per kg against Rs 150 per kg and papaya was being sold at Rs 125 per kg.
