At least 27 people were burnt to death when a passenger bus collided with a truck carrying fuel near Hub on Monday. TV channels reported that the bus was going to Panjgur from Karachi when it collided with the truck reportedly carrying smuggled Iranian diesel. Resultantly, a huge fire broke out following the collision that engulfed the coach and the truck.
At least 16 people were injured; five of them have been stated to be critical, and shifted to a local hospital. Some of them were later shifted to Burns Ward in Karachi Civil Hospital after a delay due to lack of ambulance. Lasbella Deputy Commissioner Shabbir Mengal said the administration had recovered 24 bodies from the vehicle. All of them were burnt. He said it was extremely difficult to retrieve the bodies from the bus.
Lasbella SSP Agha Ramzan Ali said Frontier Corps, Levies and police personnel were taking part in the operation. Edhi workers were also part of the rescue operation and making efforts to pull out the remaining bodies from the bus. However, identity of many of the severely burnt bodies could not be established.
