The Karachi Port handled 233,874 tonnes of cargo comprising 171,468 tonnes of import cargo and 62,406 tonnes of export cargo including 4,097 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 171,468 tonnes comprised of 47,276 tonnes of containerised cargo; 07 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,513 tonnes of DAP; 6,500 tonnes of rock phosphate; 3,230 tonnes of soyabean meal and 98,942 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 62,406 tonnes comprised of 28,646 tonnes of containerised cargo; 28,260 tonnes of clinkers and 5,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,097 containers comprising of 1,560 containers import and 2,537 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 476 of 20's and 406 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 136 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 465 of 20's and 306 of 40's loaded containers while 466 of 20's and 497 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely ETE-N, APL Philippines, Kota Lazim, Stena Image, Asavari, AL Yasat-II, LMZ Pluto and Stolt Sycamore carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, rock phosphate, clinkers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. MS Tiger, Hyundai Loyalty, MT Lahore, Rose-M, Daeho Sunshine, Asavari and Ras Ghumays-1 carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 167,155 tonnes comprising 121,289 tonnes of import cargo and 45,866 tonnes of export cargo including 3,782 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 121,289 tonnes includes 15,747 tonnes of palm oil; 51,300 tonnes of coal; 4,623 tonnes of soyabean; 16,200 tonnes of LNG; 2,665 tonnes of LPG; 4,000 tonnes of chemical; 762 tonnes of general cargo and 25,992 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 45,866 tonnes includes 45,866 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,782 containers comprising of 1,368 containers import and 2,414 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There are two ships namely MV Zante and MT Solaris carrying coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while four more ships namely CV CMA CGM Butterfly, MV Epic Tetus, MV Shan Dong Hai Tong and MT Zefyros carrying containers, soyabean seeds, coal and diesel oil respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, general cargo, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely MV Galateia, MV Agre Kinsale, MV Rita Ocean, MV Medi Masura, MV Sheila, MT Glorious, MT Horizon and MT UACC Strait carrying soyabean seeds, canola seeds, coal, diesel oil and edible oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. MV Medi Masura and MV Sheila carrying canola seeds and coal respectively expected to take berths at Grains & Fertilizer Terminal (FAP) and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Monday There are three ships namely CV APL Miami, CV MSC Heidi and CV Maersk Kensington carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
